Glad to hear that you got a "time extension"! We're eagerly waiting the final episode to this dramatic series. (^-^)

it's lame to keep going with the regional locks

Hey, hey, hey ... What's the difference between that and trying to play a U.S. DVD in a Japanese DVD player! 8P (Just teasing!)

I think I realized why the difference between the smaller company and the bigger ones.
Bureaucracy aside, the smaller company was offering a 3 months trial period, while the bigger ones are for a sure hire.
Anyhow I had a few emails and phone calls and the smaller company was very understanding. I was told to go back again for another interview and talk about career.
The other 2 companies both contacted. One wants a final interviewed for next week and the other called me yesterday to, I suppose, make an offer. It sounded like an offer, but I honestly didn't understand much.. !

Rince, it's nice to see American TV makes an effort to share Japanese culture too. I would like to see that episode, maybe I will have to resort to not-so-legal downloading.
It's great that NBC puts episodes online, but it's lame to keep going with the regional locks.

Doh! I can't watch some of those videos because I'm not in the States! :( I did manage to see some trailer clips though. The clip where the Japanese guy is in the train is (somewhat) accurate ... To my knowledge, none of the trains here have a giant digital clock hanging from the ceiling ... but I guess it's for "effect" ... he he he.

“we cant all be different, we are Japanese!”

I started laughing when I read this ... there is some truth to the statement. Specifically, if you do want to be different, it has to be "different" in a Japanese context (can't necessarily adopt foreign concepts/ideas of "different"). Forget about being "different" in a Western one! 8P

ragin: There is a new tv series here in the US on NBC called 'Heroes'. About human evolution. http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/

Seems like on you can actually view the episodes online after they have been shown on tv.

There is a Japanese man there who develops a power to teleport himself anywhere he wants. But he starts off as a typical Japanese office worker. And one day he was late for work because he wished the train didnt come and actually managed the bend the time and space continuum to make the train late by 2 mins, so he was late for work. Kind of reminded me of kaz's struggles with the train schedule! Also showed a bit of what I assume is a typical Japanese office environment.

There is also a moment where he tries to confide in his friend about his special powers. And the friend asks him what does he need those special powers for anyway. He replies that he just wants to be different, so his friend says "we cant all be different, we are Japanese!"

>The answer was that the process of issuing an >offer, if any, will most likely take more than >two days.

Probably because they are a big company and many people are involved in the hiring process. But if they are aware that you are under time constraints, I think they should try and speed up that process for you.
